Looks like I will be getting few $ out of selling a few pieces from my collection. My plan for the near term is to be VERY selective as to what I buy. Limit shopping to estate & church sales looking for sterling & gold pieces. As for fishing, I have to do a repair job to the power cord of my fish finder which will take about 30 minutes. That is about it for now.

Starting off 2011 with high hopes.

Well I am hoping to get into some Catfish tournaments this coming season. Right now I have put my fishing gear away. Trying to sell pieces of costume jewelry I have collected in my other HOBBY of going to estate & garage sales. I must say I have some excellent vintage pieces by the better know makers of fine costume pieces. Trifari,Coro, Lisner, Napier, Vendome, etc. So if anyone is a collector of costume jewelry send me an e-mail to see how we can work out some transaction. If there is such a person in the the greater CINCINNATI area that would even be better, for we could meet person to person. That way I can SHOW you the pieces without taking a lot of photos.

First catfish of the year!

I did get my boat in the river on the 22 nd. Put my lines in the water at 08:00 ,had a bite at 08:10. Hooked into my fish at around 08:25. A nice 6.5 pound channel cat 24 inches long. That catfish really tore into the smelly old shad I was using for bait. That fish gave me a great fight, took some effort to get the net on it since I was by myself. Tried 2 other spots down river but no bites at all. I returned to my 1st stop, had more bites and missed setting the hook on another fish. It was just getting too hot for me so headed back to the ramp around 12:30. It was good to finally get a line in the water, and I got some reward for the effort.

I intend to get back on the river at least one time during the next week. Hope to get out with my fishing pal to see if we can get him a catfish the same size or even bigger. Tight lines.

Might get fishing by may 22nd.

The river level is falling and may get down to 28 ft. by May 22nd. Of course it all depends on not getting any more rain before then. In the mean time I will be working on trying to sell off some the costume jewelry. Have not seen any items at the yard sales to buy lately.

With the Ohio River around 44 ft., it will be at least a week before it is fishable. That is without anymore RAIN! I did get some positive feed back for my presentation on catfishing last Monday night.

So in the mean time I will be working on trying to sell some of the costume jewelry I have from collecting the past few years. Right now I am at the point of not being eager to even shop for anymore items since I have not been able to sell off at a profit the past year. I now know how to take much better photos of the items, so will keep trying to sell items via postings on collector groups and Craigs List. It has been very hard to locate folks that are interested in collecting costume jewelry; for those are the folks that I want to sell my items too. They have the knowledge of what the company names value of the items they produced. I just do NOT want to give the items away when they do have value per the research I read on those items.

Catfishing speech went well

I gave my speech and presentation on Catfishing on the Ohio River at Cincinnati on May 4th. The guys were asking many questions that I answered to the best of my knowledge. The hand outs were of a few of my favorite fishing spots and the baits I have used to catch catfish. Today I went to an Estate sale auction and this time I was able to win a few bids. I am n ow the owner os a number of good jewelry women rings. My hope is to be able to check with my friendly jeweler and convert them into a reasonable profit. The Ohio River is going too hig to fish for at least the next 7-10 days. So I will spend my time taking some photos of the costume jewelry I have to offer for sale. Have a great day.

Went fising

I went fishing with my brother yesterday. I was skunked however my brother caught three small catfish. The wind stired up whitecaps on the river and just beat us to death most of the day. Hope to try again next week for some more catfishing.

Last night I put together a new web page about getting a cheap and light weight 12 volt power supply for a portable FISH FINDER. I have a small 14 foot boat so needed so way to power the fish finder without lugging a big heavy battery around. The rains keep on coming so the Ohio is going to be still too high for me to fish. Late April is my new hope for getting to wet a line for catfish.

Ohio River still too high

The Ohio river at Cincinnati right now is around 33 ft. I need it to be less than 28ft to luanch my boat at the Cincinnati public ramp. So it will be awhile before I can get line in the water.

After many hours of going through wondering and jumping through GOOGLE hoops finally saw my catfishing page get indexed again. I assume the proble was caused by GOOLE dance updating their data centers . So my pagehttp://cincinnaticatfishing.com is back on the FIRST
page for the keyword catfishing. In the weeks ahead will also be up dating my other site with information on COLLECTING as a hobby or making a few extra dollars.

With Ohio River still high & muddy doubt that I will be catfishing at least for another week, more than likely after EASTER.

bad week for my web pages

Well my B.A.N.S. pages are NOT being pickup by e-bay as I had believed. Somehow E-bay Partner Network rejected my request to join. Some how the e-bay ads did get placed on my Build a Niche store pages. When I sent a e-mail about it e-bay painter network said I had been rejected but it is not their policy to to say WHY anything is rejected. Until I can get accepted those pages are not generating any income. The Google search engine did something as well. My catfishing page was in the top 10 spot for the keyword catfishing for weeks. Then on Monday it just is no longer to be found?? I have edited out the page to see if the new links to my b.a.n.s. pages was the reason. If Anyone has had similar problems with b.a.n.s. page let me know by e-mail how you were able to resolve that problem. Have a nice day.

Nice day for golf

It was a warm but windy day here in Cincinnati. So went out a par 3 course.to check out my swing. The ground was on the damp side so my irons dug into the ground more that I wanted. Had trouble sinking the short putts again. My back got stiff by the time I finished the 9 holes. It is going to get cool again for the next week so I did get some fresh air and excerise today.
I am still trying to figure out twitter. Do not know how to anwer a reply I got from a person. I treid but the message I type never showed up at their end?
I am considering putting updates to my fishing trips on this blog instead of my web page to save some space on the page. That is it for now

I just signed up on TWITTER as nlcatfish so will be adding things there in the future. I got my fishing license yesterday. Getting my small fishing boat ready. Hope to get it in the Ohio River before March 18th. Went to 2 church bizarres yesterday morning. Got some decent buys. Check with the lady about the Emmit Kelly Jr. figurines. She was only offering to pay what it cost me, so I will try selling them at the auction house.

Still can not figure out how to add other blogs to a blog roll on my blog. I just have a hard time figuring if I have to add some html with a link to the other blog for each blog I want to add or what.

Well it has been a couple days since I started this blogging stuff. As best i can tell i am the only person that has read my posting. Just have no idea as get people that read blog to check out what information I have to offer.
Here goes anyway. I intend to get my fishing boat flipped over onto my trailer. Put the two anchors and rope back in the boat. Try to firm up the bracket in the back of the boat to handle the stress of the motors vibration. Put some ex poxy on one of the bench seat supports to firm it up as well.

Saturday morning Planning on hitting a couple of church Bizarre sales for some costume jewelry. I did pick up some Emmit Kelly Jr. mini figurines at a thrift store the other day. My reference book on collectibles indicated I made a good buy.. Now the hard part is finding a buyer that is going to pay so I get a reasonable profit. If I take it to my local auction house I may be able to just make a buck or two in profit. Seems they never try get bids near the value of the good items. I do have a lady that operates an antique store. She does have a knowledge of the value of items. At least when I sell things to her the is NO seller fee to deal with as with the auction house.

A NEWBIE at blogging!

I have 3 major hobbies or interests that are now interconnect via the Internet. First is my fishing for catfish on the Ohio river around downtown Cincinnati. The 2Nd is acquiring collectible costume jewelry for resale. The 3rd is have web sites covering these two topics. That is how to generate more traffic to those sites. Trying to learn ways to get revenues off the pages some how,etc.

The cat fishing page is my main site at http://cincinnaticatfishing.com/ my shopping page is where I have the pages about collecting my jewelry items. I am trying to see how to use this blog to update the pages .

I will need to keep with different technical matters about blogging ,using camcorder to make videos to up load to YouTube etc. So hopeful as time goes on I will a better understanding
of the various learning curves of being on the information highway.
